Wyatt

For those do not know, Wyatt was diagnosed with ADHD (inattentive type) a year ago. Jason and I were both against putting him on medication. We tried diet changes, herbal remedies, essential oils, etc., but after a year of him having trouble focusing in school we chose to give the medication a try. Dr. Parrot started him on Concerta 18mg which we were told was the lowest dose. We were told to watch for side effects and to call back in two weeks to give him an update on how Wyatt was doing. We have been lucky that there were no side effects but we have not seen much change in his focusing ability. I will be calling the doctor on Friday to give him the update and I would assume that he will bump the dosage up to 27mg daily. When we met the school counselor to go over Wyatt's diagnosis and told her that we really didn't want to put him on medication she said that she understood. She also said something that made a lot of sense. "You don't want to put children on medication but at the same time you don't want them to get to a point where they are struggling in school due to lack of focus and then they start not believing in themselves and have low self-esteem." We have been very blessed that our son attends such a wonderful elementary school where his teachers show compassion. Please keep our family in your prayers as we struggle along with Wyatt to get him on the right path. He is frustrated with school due to the lack of focus and concentration and therefore we want to help him in any way we can. As parents you want your child to succeed and you want to help them. I have always been a worrier, but a good friend of mine reminds me constantly to give it to God, that He is the one with the plan.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
